Muskegon River Steelhead Fishing Report – November 21, 2017 – Newaygo, MI

Dave with a nice Muskegon river fall steelhead…..George gives his “finger of approval” !…thanks again guys, see you in the spring.
The Muskegon river steelhead fishing report for November 21, 2017 in the Newaygo, MI area is about the fall steelhead run going on now and through the end of the year and well into January this year.
We are fishing fall steelhead, lake run Brown trout and resident Rainbow and Brown trout with both fly fishing and light spin tackle equipment. Due to high river levels over the past few days, we’re targeting pools and runs that these fish hold in during such conditions and getting into fish each day.

Mark, from IL, with a Muskegon river fall steelhead that took us for a ride….!
As river levels drop a little bit and we keep these great low 40 degree water temperatures, we’ll surely see more steelhead come out of lake Michigan and take up part time residence in the Muskegon river.
With a pretty mild long range forecast, we should see river conditions come into shape and set up our early December fishing over the next week or so.
Present water temperature in the 42-43 degree range.
