The Muskegon river is still fishing well for fall/early winter steelhead in and around the Newaygo, MI area.  Water levels remain a bit above average, but the river is in great shape as we get into early December.  Historically, river water temperatures are lower around this time, but the mild weather the last couple weeks have slowed on the onset of true winter conditions.

Fishing with both fly fishing and light spin tackle equipment, we’re finding some nice steelhead each time out, may have to work a bit harder for them on sunny days, but we have fish in most of the river system.

Present water temperature in the low to mid 40’s.
