Cameron couldn’t let dad get the bigger steelhead !
Chuck brought son in-law Jason out for 50th birthday steelhead trip…and both got into some great ones !

The Muskegon river fishing report for November 1, 2022 in the Newaygo, Michigan area is focused on FALL STEELHEAD !…..The jewel of Great Lakes big game fish !

With a better than expected fall salmon run and decent river levels over the last month+, we got steelhead in a bit earlier than in recent years and they have been a handful, to say the least !

The forecast is calling for some additional rain on the way, we should hold good river levels through the month if so.   Click HERE for current Muskegon river water flow data and click HERE for current and forecasted weather for the Newaygo area.

With both fly fishing and conventional equipment, we’re targeting likely holding areas for these magnificent leapers that are arguably one of the fastest fresh water fish on the planet !  Jumps in excess of 5′ out of the water are common and they can peel 100′ of line of a reel in seconds….come get one of these !

The Muskegon river has the longest fall/early winter steelhead “season”, going from late October through the end of the year and often into the new year, when weather cooperates just a little.

I do have a few open dates if any are considering a full or half day guided trip.  Email or call if best – 616-560-3195.

Tight lines…

Jeff
