Muskegon River Fishing Report – February 15, 2026 – Newaygo, Michigan

Some articulated streamers waiting to go for a swim !

The Muskegon river is real close to showing signs of breaking out of “winter mode”, with some warmer weather melting snow, providing some runoff into the river and a small bump up in river temperatures. By NO means entering spring conditions, it just feels like it outside due to a couple days of nice weather in west Michigan, which looks to continue for another few days+.

With air temperatures next week forecasted to make it up to 50, we should see more melt and runoff, but don’t plan on much of a increase in river temperatures. Maybe enough to get the “bite” going a bit better for resident Brown and Rainbow trout, as well as those Steelhead that are wintering over in the river.

Now that the river has opened up in areas that were previously sketchy due to ice jams, I’ll be getting out in the days ahead to wet a line, get a “live” update and likely take a few people out that have been itching to brush off that mid winter “dust”, so to speak.

More to follow…
