Muskegon River Fishing Report – December 5, 2024 – Newaygo, Michigan
0 min read
The Muskegon river fishing report is all about the early winter steelhead fishing going on right now and more of it to follow in the coming weeks.
Weather and river conditions have certainly changed over the last week+, with colder air temperatures that have river temperatures dropping and river levels coming down to around 1,300 cfs. Both temps and levels are still fine for early December and we should have some solid fishing for another couple weeks -or- until river temps drop into the mid 30’s….whatever comes first !
With both fly fishing and conventional equipment setups, we’re shifting our attention from traditional “fall lies”, to early winter mode and working that type of water during recent and pending outings.
Resident Brown and Rainbow trout are being caught as well, but they seem to have been eating well and we’re not seeing quite as many as we did prior to Thanksgiving.
Moderate weather will help fish settle into their winter program and we’ll be there to find out those spots moving ahead.
For now,
Jeff
