Muskegon River Steelhead Fishing Report – Newaygo, MI – December 3, 2105
The Muskegon river is still running above average flows for this time of early December, but in GREAT shape for steelheading. Water temps continue to hover in the low to mid 40’s and the new fish that arrived from lake Michigan in recent days is proving some of the better fall/early winter steelhead fishing we’ve had this season.
With both fly fishing and conventional tackle, we’re catching fish throughout the upper stretches of the river, from Croton dam, down to Bridgeton and below.
This should continue for the next few weeks, as our forecast is calling for mild temps for December standards and with that, we’ll have active steelhead and resident trout.
Present water temperature in the 43-44 degree range.
