Muskegon River Fishing Report – October 27, 2017 – Newaygo, Michigan

Young Sam Zehr, from IN, with a VERY impressive Muskegon river fall steelhead that HE caught today…..cast, hooked, fought and landed…..wonderful !
The Muskegon river fishing report for October 27, 2017 in the Newaygo, Michigan area is shifting from the last of the fall Chinook salmon coming into the river on their annual spawning run, to fall steelhead fishing !
With the recent heavy rains having brought the river up to near flood stage earlier in the week, it has since dropped a bit and cleared up as well.
We’re catching both salmon and steelhead in several stretches of the river and with both fly fishing and conventional tackle.
Pending “less than beautiful” fall weather will not do much for the sight seeing, but it will be good for fall steelhead fishing for quite some time.
Water temperatures have been slowly dropping and are in the 55-56 degree range.
