Muskegon River Fishing Report – October 16, 2018 – Newaygo, Michigan

Steve came to Michigan to escape the warm weather in Florida and catch some Muskegon river Steelhead…which he did !
The Muskegon river is literally a “buffet” of fall fishing options as we’re into our annual Chinook salmon spawning run, fall steelhead run and resident Brown and Rainbow trout are eager to eat right now as well !
The trout and steelhead are on a steady diet of salmon eggs and insects that are kicked up during the salmon spawning process and will be for several weeks.
With both fly fishing and light spin tackle equipment, we’re fishing for a combination of whatever one wants to fish for !
With more fall like weather in the short and long term forecast, we’ll be into the heart of our fall/early winter fishing season, for great lakes big game fish. Click HERE for up to date weather information.
Present water flows are in the 1,500 cfs range and with water temperature around 56-57 in the Newaygo area. Click HERE for current water flow data.
