Muskegon River Fishing Report – November 30, 2016 – Newaygo, MI
The Muskegon river fishing report for the last days of November are all about fall Steelhead, lake run Brown trout and resident Rainbow and Brown trout in the upper river between Croton and the general Newaygo area.

Jeff holds a very thick and energetic fall steelhead that put on quite an “air show”.

Jason and one of his “victims” from our fall steelhead outing the other day.
We are chasing fall steelhead run now in all stretches of the river, from near Croton all the way down closer to Muskegon itself. With next to no measurable rain since the second week of October, the river was low and clear. Our most recent rains “may” lend a hand, but we’re just now only a little above average flows for this time of November. All that said, there are some awesome fish out the…doing “things” both in and out of the water that ONLY they can do….and the only fresh water fish of any kind that can do “that”.
With slight rise in water, more fall steelhead are moving in from lake Michigan and we could see some of our better fishing of this fall/early winter, in the weeks ahead.
With both fly fishing and light spin tackle setups, we’re able to fish nearly any water we want, it’s more a matter of personal preference or conditions of the day, that help dictate that.
Our forecast for the coming days is not anything out of the norm for this time of year, but we will see more precipitation for sure and that’s a good thing !
Present water temperature in the 44-45 degree range.
