Muskegon River Fishing Report – November 16, 2016 – Newaygo, MI

Muskegon river fall steelhead

My goodness these fish are FAAAASSST !
Dan, from Las Vegas with an absolute screamer of a fall steelhead.

The Muskegon river in the Newaygo, MI area is seeing fresh fall steelhead come into the river in what appears to be, a fairly regular, but slow schedule.  With next to no rain in the last near month, the river is low, clear and had been quite warm up until the last few days.  River temps have dropped into the upper 40’s and fish are spread out in all kinds of different water/lies.

With both fly fishing and light spin tackle equipment, we’re fishing many runs throughout the day to cover water as the clear water conditions warrant more of a fish and move approach to the day.

Tim holds a beautiful male fall steelhead caught while fishing with brother Dan….very fun fishing fella’s !

With some pending weather forecasted for the days ahead, we might get some relief from Mother Nature and I hope this is the case as we’re badly in need of water.

Present water temperature in the 48-50 degree range.
