Muskegon River Fishing Report – Newaygo, MI – November 19, 2016
The Muskegon river fishing report for November 19, 2016 has us in the middle of a very blistery winter front that has moved into west Michigan and will be here through the weekend.

Lee, from CT, with a nice, fat and spunky fall steelhead from his outing with fishing partner Ron.
The fall steelhead season is upon us and we’ve had some good fishing over the last few days, but some rather tough stretches of finding “biters” with sunny days, low and clear water and water temps that are still a bit above what we’re accustomed to in mid November.
All that said, there are some very nice fall steelhead in the Muskegon river, with several fish coming in over the 10# range, a few a bit larger and a couple real beasts here and there.

Ron, from Sonoma, CA – www.rubinfamilyofwines.com – with a fall steelhead that spent as much time on TOP of the water, as well as above it, for the first 8-10 seconds after the hookup….that’s a long time for such spastic behavior !
With the present weather and likely change in river AND lake MI water conditions, we should see more steelhead enter the river in the days ahead.
With both fly fishing and light spin tackle, we’re able to get our “offering” through prime lies where fish hold come this time of year.
December will most likely fish rather well again due to our late fall season in general and I will be doing trips right up to Christmas this year.
Present water temperature ranging from around 50 up near Croton dam, to 47-48 in the lower river.
