Muskegon River Fishing Report – Newaygo, MI – January 30, 2017

These will be of significance very soon for both resident trout and steelhead wintering over in the river !!
The Muskegon river near Newaygo, MI is running above average levels for the past week couple weeks due to the warmer than average weather and rain/snow mix. Present levels around 3500 cfs, normal this time of winter closer to 21-2300 cfs.
I have not been out in a few weeks due to both minor elbow surgery and some winter family travels, but I have the green light to get back on the river and will be doing so this next week.
Due to water conditions, it will still be fishing the prime winter “lies”, but I have more of them to choose from with higher water !
Present water temperature in the 35 degree range.
