Muskegon River Fishing Report – March 5, 2019 – Newaygo, Michigan

The Muskegon river in the Newaygo, Michigan area is running quite cold for this time of early March and easy to understand why, as we’ve had some brutally cold weather return to west Michigan.
I don’t have much of a “report” right now, but will in the days ahead. It has simply been too cold to bring water temperatures up at all, with most recent readings finding the river in the 32.5-33.5 range.
We may see some new steelhead come in from lake Michigan, but it will be a trickle affect at best with present water temperature.
The short term forecast is calling for a slight warm up end of this week and weekend, but it will days many consecutive days to make a difference.
More to follow in the coming days.
