Muskegon River Fishing Report – June 26, 2017- Newaygo, MI

Muskegon river Smallmouth bass

‘Tis smally time on the Muskegon river !!!

The Muskegon river in the Newaygo, MI area is running very high and off color due to the heavy rains that came through much of Michigan the end of last week and through the weekend.

With such a drastic change in river conditions, fish often shut right down and will be very selective in what they feed on and when they eat.  With a literal “buffet” of food coming by them at any given time, being selective is an option at this time.

Once the river begins to come down, fish will return to their normal “lies” and return to their typical feeding pattern.

Present water temperature in the mid 60’s.
