Muskegon River Fishing Report – June 13, 2018 – Newaygo, Michigan

A great Grand father-Grand daughter outing with George taking Ella fishing for the afternoon ! Ella holds one of several fish she caught yesterday, as a proud Grandpa looks on !
The Muskegon river fishing report for June 13, 2018 in the Newaygo, Michigan area is focused on the “combo” fishing we’re in the middle of right now. Both resident Brown and Rainbow trout, as well as Smallmouth bass are being caught on both fly fishing and light spin tackle equipment.
We have some hatches that are still occurring at varying times of the day which are providing some quality dry fly opportunities to nice fish that are feeding on the surface.
Smallmouth bass fishing has picked up quite a bit as water temperatures got warm a bit quicker than normal this early summer season due to the record high temperatures we had come through just prior to and after the Memorial Day holiday.
Water levels have dropped quite a bit over the last handful of days and the river is running very clear right now….so a stealthy approach to fishing any species of fish is beneficial. For current conditions on the Muskegon river below Croton dam, click HERE.
Water temperatures have stayed about the same over the last near week, which is good considering it was fast approaching the 70 degree mark before more normal weather returned over the last week+.
Present water temperature around 66 in the first few miles below Croton dam.
