Muskegon River Fishing Report – July 27, 2016

Muskegon river fishing

Great day fishing with my dad Ron, along with nephews Alec, Jacob in from OH and west coast friend Gabe, all in for some vacation time in Pentwater this week.
Dad with a nice Muskegon river “smally”.

The Muskegon river fishing report for July 27, 2016 is all about Smallmouth bass, Rock bass, the occasional Rainbow or Brown trout, along with a few Walleye and the saw-toothed Northern Pike that we’re coming across here and there.

Gabe, in from OR for a little west MI summer fun, holds a very acrobatic Muskegon river smallmouth bass.

With both fly fishing and light spin tackle equipment, we’re catching “who knows what” in any given stretch of the Muskegon river.

Alec holds on of many Muskegon river smallmouth that made it to the boat today !

Both topwater in the early morning and around dusk, along with subsurface imitations of various size baitfish and crayfish during day, we’re finding some nice fish to do battle with.

Jacob, from OH with a very chunky Muskegon river smallmouth from today.

Water temperatures down stream from Newaygo were in the 72-73 degree range.
