Muskegon River Fishing Report – July 20, 2018 – Newaygo, Michigan

Jake came to west Michigan for a short vacation from the Chicago area with family and fished with some of them today…….. nice Muskegon river Smallmouth Bass !
The Muskegon river fishing report for July 20, 2018 in the Newaygo, Michigan area is all about the Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye being caught on the river this summer.
With both fly fishing and light spin tackle equipment, we’re fishing primarily Smallmouth “lies”, but some of this water is also appealing to Pike and Walleye.
Over the last week-10 days, the river had been running very low for this time in July, but a slight rise in river levels has helped fishing, in that we’re able to access more water with the higher levels.
With pending rains coming through much of Michigan in the next few days, this should bring river levels up a bit more, which will also cool it down a little bit.
Present river temperatures in the 69-71 degree range, click HERE for more details on current conditions in the Muskegon river near Croton dam.
