Muskegon River Fishing Report – January 5, 2018 – Newaygo, MI

These tasty stone fly nymphs will be of significance very soon for both resident Rainbow and Brown trout, as well as steelhead wintering over in the river !!
The Muskegon river fishing report for January 5, 2018 in the Newaygo, MI area is about the arctic weather and “deep freeze” that we’ve all been living in over the past couple weeks.
As a result of the weather, it has been hard to get out on the river much since Christmas, but we have some relief in sight ! The weather forecast for west Michigan over the next week+ is for rising temperatures and even a chance at seeing near 40 degree temperatures come the end of next week.
I will be out this weekend and early next week and have a pulse on fishing conditions afterwards.
Present water temperatures hovering around the 34 degree mark.
