Muskegon River Fishing Report – February 15, 2017 – Newaygo, MI

Trevor, from Iowa, with a nice Muskegon river steelhead.
The Muskegon river fishing report is all about the extended “early winter” steelhead fishing and good trout fishing with floating lines and indicator setups on 5 & 6 weight fly rods.
We’re fishing both fly fishing and light spin tackle outfits for winter steelhead, it’s all a matter of personal preference and often based on weather.
We have some very warm February weather headed our way over the next week – 10 days and I’m sure many will take advantage of this to get out on the river.
Present water levels a bit above average flows for this time of February and I’m sure this will continue with the pending warm weather and related snow melt and runoff.
Present water temperatures in the 34-35 degree range.
