Muskegon River Fishing Report – February 13, 2019-Newaygo, Michigan

Sulphur parachute emerger pattern……Brown and Rainbow trout approved !
The Muskegon river in the Newaygo, Michigan area is running above normal flows for this time of winter and VERY cold. With the crazy weather we’ve had in west Michigan the past couple weeks, many rivers are running higher than normal due to the big snow melt and runoff that we had with an extended run of 50 degree weather. Click HERE for current Muskegon river water flow data.
With not much of a break in weather over the long term forecast, we can expect fishing conditions to remain challenging and fish to stay in “hunker down” mode for a while. Click HERE for current and forecasted weather for the Muskegon area.
Much of my time right now is being spent tying flies for early and mid summer trout fishing from late May – late June, along with Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike fishing during July and August.
Should anyone want to venture out on their own, feel free to contact me for up to date information regarding access to the Rogue, Muskegon or White rivers, as there are only a few spots to even get in !
