Bill S, from IN, holds a male steelhead that took us for a several hundred yard ride down the river before he brought it close enough to net…nicely done Bill and great day !
Muskegon River
The Muskegon river near Newaygo, MI is still running a bit above average flows for this time of year, but coming down slowly in levels, as well as water temperature.
We’re into what is historically, the beginning of our “transition two weeks of early winter”, where migratory steelhead move from medium speed and medium depth runs, to slower moving runs and even deeper pools as their metabolism drops due to colder water temperatures.
We will have solid fishing for a while as our extended forecast is calling for some rather mild temperatures over the next 5-7 days, which should hold us in the mid to upper 30’s for water temps, which will keep fish relatively active.
Present water temperature in the mid to upper 30’s.
