Muskegon River Fishing Report – August 11, 2017 – Newaygo, Michigan

Kyle holds a chunky and very scrappy Grand river smallmouth bass caught yesterday evening while fishing with Steve, both from Grand Rapids, MI.
The Muskegon river in the Newaygo, MI area is running above average flows for this time of August due to some heavy rains that have come through west and central Michigan over the past near week.
I have been splitting time between the Muskegon river in/around Newaygo and the Grand river in the Grand Rapids area the last handful of days.

Steve with a “solid” summer Smally……
We have been catching both Smallmouth bass and Northern pike on recent outings on the Grand, with both fly fishing and light spin tackle gear.
Not long before I will be heading north to begin early salmon trips on the lower sections of the Pere Marquette and Manistee rivers…….hold onto your rod, there are some BIG Chinook salmon swimming the waters of lake Michigan this year !
