Muskegon River Fishing Report – April 22, 2020 – Newaygo, Michigan

**Some pictures from the last year to keep your spirits up !

Mark holds a nice, chunky Smallmouth bass from a mid July outing.

Ron holds a very chunky Muskegon river Rainbow trout that took a dry fly during some good day time, Gray Drake spinner fall fishing !

The Muskegon river fishing report for April 22, 2020 in the Newaygo, Michigan area continues to focus on the many restrictions that are limiting fishing at this time due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

With guided fishing trips being banned as part of the Executive Order from the governor, I have not been on the river in several days.  Friends who reside on the river tell me that steelhead fishing has been good for those able to get out by either walking in and wade fishing, or using non motorized vessels to transport them down the river.

Byron holds a great “buck” steelhead, while Andrew helps him take it all in !!!!!

Due to very little measurable precipitation over the last couple weeks and no snow left to melt and run off into the rivers of Michigan, most all rivers are running below average flows for the time of late April.  Click HERE for current Muskegon river water flow data.   What precipitation we have had lately, has been light rain and snow flurries and this won’t do anything to help bring water levels up.  Click HERE for current and forecasted weather for the Newaygo, Michigan area.

We’re ALL looking forward to the end of the month when some of the restrictions keeping us off the river are scheduled to be reduced or lifted, keep fingers crossed !
