Muskegon River Fishing Report – April 13, 2017 – Newaygo, MI

Bill, from SE Michigan with a GREAT Muskegon river brown trout.
The Muskegon river fishing report for April 13, 2017 for the Newaygo, MI area is all about our spring steelhead run and the pending trout fishing season.
We are into our spring steelhead season as these magical great lakes big game fish return to their natal grounds on their annual spawning run.
We are catching them with both fly fishing and light spin tackle gear and getting into some very nice fish here lately.

Jack holds a nice spring steelhead…..Jason got some of his own as well.
As water temperatures have come up over the last few days, steelhead are moving towards spawning grounds and we’re getting a mixed bag of not only them, but resident Rainbow and Brown trout who are close by, feeding on insects and eggs kicked up during the steelhead spawning process.

Jason and Jack switch spots for this picture…..great day guys, thanks again…..
Water temperatures have come up in recent days and fish are in their fighting prime right now !
Present water temperature in the 44-45 degree range.
